Baldwin Racing Joins Team Toyo
CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA – Toyo Tires announced today it has signed Baldwin
Racing as a member of Team Toyo™ Off-Road. Baldwin Racing has competed
professionally for more than ten years, currently fielding
800-horsepower Pro 2™ and Pro 4™ Ford trucks in the CORR (Championship
Off-Road Racing™) short course series. Beginning this week in Antelope
Valley, California, all of the team’s CORR race trucks and pre-runners
will be equipped with Toyo’s Open Country M/T™ tires featuring a
special Version 2 competition compound and construction that has
proven successful in both short course and endurance off-road
competition.
“Toyo Tires is proud to add Baldwin Racing to Team Toyo Off-Road as we
continue to build a strong foundation of winners for our off-road
competition program,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and
motorsports, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation, “This further
demonstrates Toyo’s commitment to the research and development of
off-road products which ultimately benefits the consumer through the
lessons we learn in racing.”
This represents the third year of off-road competition for Toyo Tires,
the second year using specially developed product specifically for
race trucks.
“Toyo Tires has accomplished some incredible things in off road racing
in a very short period of time,” said Josh Baldwin, driver for Baldwin
Racing. “Having seen how far they have come with drivers like Rick
Huseman and Kyle LeDuc in CORR and then with Robby Gordon's win in the
SCORE Baja 1000, we know that Toyo shares Baldwin Racing's commitment
to winning."
Thirty year old Baldwin of Laguna Beach, California supplies a lot of
talent while competing in the Pro 4 (4 wheel drive) class. Baldwin was
the 2005 CORR Rookie of the Year and CORR Governor’s Cup Winner during
the same season. Competing in the Pro 2 class for Baldwin Racing is
motorcycle and off-road legend, Ricky Johnson from San Diego,
California. Forty-three year old Johnson was the Pro 2 Class Champion
in 1998 and both a two-time Supercross and five-time outdoor motocross
champion. Johnson also competed in the NASCAR® Craftsmen Truck Series;
the ASA Pike’s Peak Hillclimb, was 1999 ASA Stock Car Rookie of the
Year and provided color commentary for CORR television broadcasts.
In addition to the tires, Toyo will be included on all CORR race
trucks, pre-run trucks, big rigs, driving suits and crew shirts as
part of an entirely new look for Baldwin Racing.
