    Saturday Race Recap

  • CORR GOES LIVE IN HIGH DEFINTION FOR THE FIRST TIME ON SPEED AND CARL RENEZEDER TAKES HOME HIS 60TH WIN FOR TEAM RENEZEDER

Newport Beach, CA (April 26, 2008)--Championship off Road Racing kicked off its first day of racing for 2008 today, at the Fairplex in Pomona. CORR's newest track was on full display with intense battles and action packed racing. Defending Pro 4 Champion Carl Renezeder took home his 60th win for Team Renezeder and Menzies Motorsports newest Pro 2 driver Rob MaCachren won today's Pro 2 race. CORR was LIVE in High Definition for the first time in the series history on SPEED. Commentators Bill Weber and Ken Stout delivered the details of the day to fans watching SPEED.

Rob MacCachren started on the poll is his Rockstar Energy Drink/Menzies Motorsports Ford in the Jason Baldwin Pro 2 Cup Race. With two time Pro 2 Champion Carl Renezeder on the outside it was a tight battle going into turn two. On lap three a battle broke out between Renezeder and Seven time Supercross Champion Ricky Johnson in his Red Bull #9. Gaining ground behind them was the # 3 of Todd LeDuc in his Rockstar/Makita truck. Johnson passed Renezeder on lap 8 of 21. It was the battle of the energy drinks up front between MacCachren and Johnson. The Competition caution came out on lap 10. Johnson got to the inside of MacCachren in turn five but couldn't pass MacCachren for the lead. The battle continued between the energy drink sponsored Pro 2's to the end with MacCachren protecting the win. Johnson finished second and Renezeder rounded out the podium.

Defending Pro Lite Champion and Driver of the Year Robert Naughton started on the poll today in his Ready Lift Ford in the Pro Lite class. Naughton lead every lap until the competition caution came out. Once the race went green again an intense battle broke out for the first position between Naughton and the Papas and Beers/Monster Energy Drink sponsored Rodrigo Ampudia. Naughton went out of the race when his right front tire went down and his transmission failed. When Naughton left the race Ampudia took off with the lead. Ampudia wrecked in turn five when he got trapped in lap traffic allowing for Hart who had been sitting in second to run away with the win on the final lap. In the end it was Hart with the win, Ampudia holding onto second and 2006 Pro Lite Champion Chad Hord rounding out the podium.

Defending Pro 4 Champion Carl Renezeder started on the poll today in the Pro 4 class. Scott Douglas in his Amsoil sponsored truck bumped fenders with Renezeder pushing him sideways. Douglas was unable to get by Renezeder. Renezeder was able to stretch his lead in front of the pack on lap four. Douglas and three time Pro 4 Champion Johnny Greaves battled it out for the second position with Rick Huseman in his Fabtech sponsored Pro 4 hanging onto the 4th position. Greaves passed Douglas on lap six. Douglas got his position back in turn five. Greaves got back around Douglas on lap eight coming out of turn two. The competition caution came out on lap ten. When the race started up Renezeder held onto the lead with a determined Greaves in second. In the end it was Renezeder with his 60th CORR Pro win, Greaves in second and Douglas rounding out the podium.

Defending Pro Buggy Champion Larry Foddrill started on the poll today in his # 901. Rob MacCachren who took home six wins in 2007 passed Foddrill on lap 1 to take the lead. MacCachren gained himself a substantial lead early on. Greg George sat in second and Foddrill fell to third. Meanwhile Corey Heynen and Doug Fortin swapped back and forth the fourth position. Larry Job who finished 2nd in the points in 2007 made his way from his starting position of 9th to end the race in the 4th position. In the end it was MacCachren who ran away with the win, George in second and Foddrill placing third.
