Douglas Motorsports Upcoming CORR/WSORR Weekend. (El Cajon, CA) – May 14, 2007 -The recent split in the short-course off-road racing world has caused most teams to choose which race series, CORR or WSORR, to attend. Championship Off-Road Racing is holding its second weekend of competition in Pomona, California, while the World Series of Off-Road Racing begins its season in Owatonna, Minnesota, both on the same weekend, May 19-20. Douglas Motorsports is one of the few teams, possibly the only team, to send a race truck to both events. Team owner and driver, Scott Douglas will compete on the West Coast with his CORR PRO-4 #7 AMSOIL, Kumho Tires, Sycuan Casino, KC HiLites, Alloy, American Racing Ford F-150 BorgWarner Championship winning truck, and fellow PRO-2WD AMSOIL Super Team member Mike Oberg, will get behind the wheel of the team’s second PRO-4/4x4 race truck at the WSORR opener in Minnesota. “We are competing in both series, because off-road racing is what we do at Douglas Motorsports,” commented Scott Douglas. “We believe in the tradition of racing Labor Day Weekend in Crandon. We also know that the West Coast is the birthplace of off-road racing. In 2007 we saw one race series, become two different series. We approached our sponsors about our plans to compete in both CORR and WSORR. They supported our decision and here we are.” This hectic race schedule will allow over 100,000 race fans to see the team at the track, and millions of television race fans, thanks to coverage by SPEED and NBC Sports. “Initially, we developed the two truck concept to ensure our participation in both series,” adds Scott Douglas. “Unfortunately, we needed both trucks at the opener in Antelope Valley. Now with two overlapping weekends of racing, we can put both trucks on the track, maximizing our chances of winning, and maximizing our exposure for our sponsors. Both race series have similar rules and regulations, so the trucks can easily compete in either group.” As stated, the WSORR PRO-4x4 #7 AMSOIL, Kumho Tires, Sycuan Casino, KC HiLites, Alloy, American Racing, Ford F-150 will be piloted by Mike Oberg. Mike’s last race of the 2006 season was the Jason Baldwin Memorial Cup, where he took home the $66,000, top prize back to Wisconsin. Mike traveled with Douglas Motorsports to the CORR Antelope Valley event to get some seat time in the high-powered four wheel drive truck. “I felt I handled the 4x4 well in the straight stretches, but had some difficulties in cornering,” says Oberg. “There is a big difference when you have the power in the front to pull you through. I’ll get a little more practice at Owatonna, before the race, so I know I can do it. I’m just glad to be able to help Scott out and support all of our sponsors.” For up to the minute coverage on this weekend of racing for Douglas Motorsports, visit the following off-road web sites: www.dirtnewz.com , www.off-road.com , www.bumpracer.com .
