 Josh Hintz Battles to First PRO Podium Finish!

June 9, 2007 (Chula Vista, CA) – Josh Hintz and his #16 Toyo Tires Nissan Frontier traveled to Southern California to take on fifteen other CORR PRO-Lite competitors at the new created Chula Vista International Raceway at the Quarry. The independent race team from Green Bay, Wisconsin decided to make a trek across the country after another event in the Midwest was postponed.

Friday Qualifying
With very limited practice, Josh qualified 14th out of sixteen PRO-Lite competitors.

CORR Round 5
The field was lined up with two cars per row with the top 4 qualifiers inverted. Josh knew he had an uphill battle if he wanted to get a solid finish.

The rolling start had Josh and his #16 Nissan Frontier quickly moving up three positions in the first two laps. The competition in this PRO division highly competitive, as many competitors have used PRO-Lite as a stepping stone to get into the high horsepower trucks of PRO-2 and PRO-4.

The Toyo Tires worked well on the hard packed surface, as the Race Runner Shocks from Sway-A-Way kept the #16 Nissan always on attack mode. As the race went on, Josh continued to work through traffic. With two laps to go, the # 16 Nissan was looking to challenge for the second spot. The final laps ran out before a serious charge could be mounted. At the finish it was 1st-Rodrego Ampudia, 2nd-Jeff Huseman, 3rd-Josh Hintz.

The third place finish marks the first time Josh Hintz has grabbed a podium spot, in his three year PRO career.

Afterwards Josh commented, “This feels awesome. It makes the trip out here worth it. Just after the mandatory yellow I lost my radio communications with my spotter. I told myself just to go for it. To get on the podium against guys with much bigger budgets than us, it’s an awesome feeling. I’m indebted to my crew, without them I wouldn’t me here.”

Sunday will see Josh Hintz on the track for Round 6 of the CORR series.
