(Chula Vista, CA) – After two wins at the WSORR opener, Scott Taylor
brought his #8 Skyjacker BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 to Chula Vista
International Raceway at the Quarry looking to take on the best of CORR
PRO-2.
Taylor Racing arrived in Southern California Monday morning, four days
before the event, looking to get some extra test time with his Chief
Engineer, Russ Wernimont. By Friday morning, the team was ready for
qualifying. The newly created track, sits within a rock quarry, that
features a huge “ski jump” named Mount Fig, large elevation changes,
banked corners, jumps, stutter bumps, and a quad set of jumps on the
front straight.
Scott
Taylor went out for qualifying during the second of three qualifying
groups for PRO-2. Scott’s first lap of qualifying came across the line,
at 57.92 seconds, the fastest time of the first two groups. Eventually,
Scott settled for third fastest, as both Rob MacCachern and Ricky
Johnson, edged out the Skyjacker Ford for the top spots.
“Were happy with our qualifying run today,” commented Scott Taylor. “The
track really offers a lot for the driver and the spectators. I thin when
we all get out there tomorrow, we are going to put on a great show for
the fans. Congrats to Rob and Ricky.”
Top four PRO-2 qualifying times:
1st- Rob MacCachern – 56.91 sec.
2nd – Ricky Johnson – 57.10 sec.
3rd – Scott Taylor – 57.92 sec.
4th – Dan Vandenhuvel – 58.177 sec.
