Racing Takes One Win and Two Top-5 Finishes at CORR Finale
Belvidere, IL (November 7, 2007) - Taylor Racing headed to Primm, Nevada
looking to take the $66,000 first prize in the Jason Baldwin Memorial
Cup. Scott Taylor and his #8 Skyjacker Suspension Russ Wernimont Designs
BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 ran a limited CORR schedule, so the team had
to run the Last Chance Qualifier to make the Cup field.
The track at Las Vegas International Off-Road Raceway gave CORR
competitors new challenges including a huge table top, a serious section
of whoops through the infield, and a step up jump at the end of the
front straightaway. The four turns on the track were all different in
size, had CORR’s signature banking allowing for great passing
opportunities.
Friday qualifying saw the #7 Skyjacker Ford stop the clocks sixth
quickest in the nineteen truck field.
Saturday
Baldwin Cup Last Chance Qualifier
Scott had to finish in the top six to make the field for the $66,000
Jason Baldwin Cup.
The race saw Scott and his #8 Skyjacker Suspensions Russ Wernimont
Designs BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 on the pole for the seventeen lap
affair. Immediately he grabbed the lead. On lap five, #5 Evan Evans
challenged Scott for the lead. Scott battled with Evans, but heading for
the big table top, Evans grabbed the lead. Two laps later, the leader’s
engine expired with Taylor retaking the top spot.
The remainder of the race, Scott went unchallenged, all the way to the
checkered flag.

Afterwards Scott commented, “All we had to do is finish in the top six.
We ran out own race this afternoon. Our BFGoodrich tires really worked
well today, and our Skyjacker engineered suspension had the truck haulin’
the mail through the whoops. This extra track time could give us an
advantage when we get to the Baldwin Cup tomorrow. We don’t have any
issues to look after, but we only have a couple of hours to get ready
for the points race.”

Round 11
Starting from the outside of row three, Scott was racing the entire
nineteen PRO-2 field. Scott held the sixth position until lap four, when
he passed #38 Ampudia for the fifth spot. From that point on, the top
six positions didn’t change. After fifteen laps, Scott Taylor crossed
the line in fifth place.
- “We are
still working on our chassis setup,” commented Scott Taylor. “We’re
closer to where we need to be, our BFGoodrich tires work great in the
Nevada desert.”
- Sunday
The morning qualifying run put Scott Taylor eleventh fastest in the
field of 19 PRO-2 trucks. The top eleven qualifiers were with 1.3
seconds of the pole sitter.
Jason Baldwin Memorial Cup
The winner take all event was over for Scott Taylor as the first caution
flag came out on lap four. A stop in the Hot Pits found a broken brake
line ending Scott’s chance for the big payday.

Round 12
The last race of the day was as much of a race against nature as well as
the nineteen PRO-2 competitors. The Cup race took longer to complete
than expected, so now daylight was at a premium. The race went off well
for Scott. He carefully picked his way through the dust and limited
light to finish in fifth place, right on the rear bumper the catch fence
and two other trucks had engines expire causing minor fires.
- “The
last race was one of survival, commented Scott Taylor. “The dust and the
lack of light made for tough racing conditions. I want to thank
Skyjacker Suspensions, BFGoodrich Tires, Russ Wernimont Designs, Justice
Brothers, Miller Electric, Roush Performance, and Auto Trans Design for
there continued support. Without them we couldn’t compete at the level
that we do. The outcome of the weekend wasn’t what we hoped for, but one
win and two top-5s isn’t too bad either. I have to thank Kevin, Woody,
Jon, and Tim from Probst Motorsports, as well, who gave us added track
support this weekend.”
