FIFTH SEASON PODIUM FOR SCOTT DOUGLAS
Bark River, Michigan—Just nine starts into the 2009 TORC Series
presented by AMSOIL season, Scott Douglas already had five top-3 podium
finishes. The latest came at Bark River International Raceway in round 9
of TORC PRO 4X4 racing. Douglas had to work his way through traffic to
get to the front. TORC inverts the top six trucks by points, so Douglas
started fourth on the two-wide starting grid. After challenging the
leaders through turns one and two, Scott wisely dropped back to avoid
damage from first lap bumping and banging. By the competition yellow at
the midway point, Douglas was fourth and drove hard to the checkered
flag to finish third. - more

Redefining Double
Duty: Robby Gordon to run TORC Crandon & NASCAR Atlanta
Orange, CA - Just about every NASCAR fan today has heard the term
“Double Duty”. It is a term used to describe a driver that is doing two

doing the occasional Nationwide and Sprint Cup race on the same day. But

kind.
For the first time in 20 years, Robby will be returning to Crandon

improve the truck for the Bark River race.
The crew worked on the truck right up until the Friday practice. With
not knowing what to expect, Ben went out for the three lap practice

The Wegner motor ran perfect along with the ATD transmission. The only

"Ricky
Johnson Wins 2009 FCP Chairman’s Cup Clash"
CRANDON, Wis. – Ricky Johnson, driving his Red Bull Kumho Ford F-150,
avoided a race full of on-track mayhem in the 16th running of the Forest
County Potawatomi Chairman’s Cup race at Crandon International Off-Road
Raceway to take the win. It was an elated Johnson’s first Chairman’s Cup
victory and only the second time it has been done in a two-wheel drive
vehicle.
The Chairman’s Cup race pits two-wheel drive versus 4x4 race trucks over
Crandon’s fast but punishing 1.5 mile track. Crandon Raceway,
celebrating its 40th anniversary season, showcased a star-studded field
of 17 of nation's top off-road racers.
At the drop of the green flag, Johnson managed to avoid a three-truck
pileup. He then established the pace for the entire field chased by
two-wheel contenders Mike Oberg in his Amsoil Kumho Superteam Chevy and
4x4 racers Kyle LeDuc in his Rockstar Energy Makita Ford, Rick Huseman
in his Monster Energy Toyota, Scott Douglas in his Amsoil Kumho
Superteam Ford, Johnny Greaves Monster Energy Potawatomi BFG Toyota and
Curt LeDuc in the Rockstar Energy Makita Ford.
A number of spectacular crashes and collisions thinned the field taking
out top contenders including Greaves, Huseman, and Douglas among others.
The last hope for a 4x4 to catch the speedy Johnson was Kyle LeDuc whose
race ended when he crashed in Crandon’s notorious Calamity Corner.
Johnson seized the opportunity, drove around the numerous caution flags
and led flag-to-flag to win by nearly four seconds over Oberg with
former Chairman’s Cup champion Curt LeDuc rounding out the podium.
Johnson netted $13,500 dollars for a first place purse which included
$3,500 in cash contingency from the Ford Truck Division. Johnson was
also awarded a Miller Electric Welding system valued at $1,400. On hand
to award the Forest County Potawotomi Chairman’s Cup trophy was Tribal

SCORE Baja 500 Race
FULLERTON, CA (June 9, 2009) – Coming in second in the legendary SCORE

Yokohama Tire Corporation- sponsored Heidi Steele did, starting and
finishing the June 5-7 race at Ensenada, Mexico on the same four
off-the-shelf Geolandar M/T+® tires.
Steele, who won Baja last year in Class 7SX, moved up in this season and
competed in Class 6 with co-driver Ross Savage in a Ford Ranger. The
second place finish helped increase Steele’s point lead in the SCORE

Oberg Shows Potential, Looks to Crandon for Redemption
Eagle
River, WI - Mike Oberg brought his #80 AMSOIL Kumho Tire Chevy PRO-2WD
race truck looking to end his string of unique on-track incidents that
has prevented strong finishes in the opening rounds of the Traxxas
TORC series presented by AMSOIL. The weekend on the West Coast saw the
race truck perform well, only to come up a little short of
expectations.
The two Friday afternoon practice sessions really helped Mike and his
crew chief, Cory Lambert fine tune his Keith Stamper built chassis. As
the sun set, the moisture in the clay track seemed to rise to the
surface giving the TORC competitors a great surface for the third
round of the TORC series. - more
