ANGELES—American Suzuki has renewed its associate sponsorship of the
SCORE Desert Series to again include a special award for the 2008
Suzuki SCORE Rookie of the Year, it was announced today by Sal Fish,
President/CEO of Los Angeles-based SCORE International.
Suzuki, in the fourth year of its current sponsor program with the
World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series, will provide the 2008 Suzuki
SCORE Rookie of the Year with a choice of either a new fuel-injected
Suzuki RM-Z450 Motocross Motorcycle or the 2008 Suzuki QuadRacer R450
ATV, which also comes with fuel injection.
“American Suzuki has been a wonderful sponsorship partner with SCORE
for over three years and we salute the unique program and their
pro-active support seriously enhances the quality of the SCORE Desert
Series,” said Fish, who has been at the helm of SCORE since shortly
after it was founded in 1973. “It will be very special to again honor
our SCORE Rookie of the Year with this very special Suzuki bonus for
the third straight year. We sincerely appreciate the on-site presence
that Suzuki brings to all of the SCORE events as well.”
SCORE Trophy-Truck driver Garron Cadiente of Mesa, Ariz., received the
2006 Suzuki SCORE Rookie of the Year award and was the first recipient
of the special Suzuki bonus prize. The 2007 Suzuki SCORE Rookie of the
Year award went to Eric Chase, San Diego, one of the top racers in the
unlimited Class 1. Chase finished fourth in the 2007 SCORE Class 1
point standings. The Suzuki SCORE Rookie of the Year is determined
annually by vote of the more than 3,000 members of SCORE
International.
The Motorcycle/ATV Division of American Suzuki Motor Corporation,
Brea, Calif., was founded in 1963 by Suzuki Motor Corporations. ASMC
markets motorcycles and ATVs via an extensive dealer network
throughout 49 states. ASMC’s parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation,
based in Hamamatsu, Japan, is a diversified worldwide manufacturer of
motorcycles, ATVs, scooters, automobiles and marine engines. Founded
in 1909 and incorporated in 1920, it has 120 distributors in 191
countries.
The Suzuki RM-Z450 is the world’s only mass-produced, fuel-injected
motocross bike. The 2008 Suzuki QuadRacer R450 is a ready-to-race ATV,
powered by a fuel-injected 450cc four-stroke engine, designed,
developed and tested by a team of dedicated Suzuki engineers working
with WPSA Pro Motocross Champion Doug Gust.
“The continuing relationship between American Suzuki and the SCORE
International Desert Series is a solid and relevant program in our
overall marketing plan, “ said Mel Harris, Suzuki’s Vice President of
Marketing. “SCORE International is the premier desert racing
organization in the world and there isn’t a better place for American
Suzuki to be to reach this sizeable market demographic.”
The Suzuki RM-Z450 Motocross Motorcycle won the 2006 AMA National
Motocross and Supercross championships.
Suzuki’s continuing on-site presence at SCORE events remains intact,
including banners, inflatables and numerous trash receptacles. The
special trash containers help SCORE maintain its program of leaving
the desert areas it uses cleaner than they were before each event.
