Desert Specialist Scott Kincaid Joins Team Toyo™ Off-Road
February
13, 2008 – CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA – Desert off-road racing specialists,
Scott Kincaid and Jeff Quinn along with co-driver Gary Kincaid, have
become the newest members of Team Toyo™ Off-Road. Piloting their blue
number 57 Kincaid Racing Ford truck in both the SCORE-International
“Trophy Truck” and Best In The Desert “Trick Truck” classes, the team
relies on 37x13.5R17 Toyo® Open Country M/T®-R tires to keep them up
front.
Kincaid’s truck is unique as it is powered by a big block 548-cubic inch
engine built by his brother, Gary Kincaid of Kincaid Racing Engines.
Producing nearly 1,000-horsepower, this monster engine puts extra strain
on everything from the transmission down to the rubber on the ground in
order to propel this 6,800 lb. truck.
“Before being sponsored by Toyo, we initially bought our Open Country
M/T tires because we wanted the best,” said Kincaid. “During the recent
Parker 425 race, the tires were incredible with no flats. We ran through
sand, whoops and rocks and the tires didn’t even look cut-up, they
looked great. They are the perfect match-up for our team.”
During the recent Best In The Desert series Bluewater Resort & Casino
Parker 425, the team displayed the potential for an overall win as their
Open Country M/T-R equipped truck reached a 20-mph higher top speed than
when testing with other tire brands. An undersized fuel cell and a late
decision to change the length of the course by the event organizers
resulted in the truck running out of fuel on course during the first
lap. After that setback, the team was still able to power to a fourth in
class finish and fifth place overall. Prior to that event, the team
competed in the La Carrera 200 and took first overall on their Toyo Open
Country M/T-R tires.
“We welcome Scott Kincaid as our newest member of Team Toyo,” said Stan
Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “We
continue to grow the presence of Team Toyo in desert racing with strong
drivers such as Kincaid, Robby Gordon and the LeDucs, and the Open
Country M/T tires are helping them to finish ahead of the competition.”
The Open Country M/T-R used by drivers such as Scott Kincaid is the
competition version of the popular Open Country M/T® mud terrain tire
which is ideal for both off-road traction and smooth operation on the
highway. To learn more about Team Toyo Off-Road drivers and products
