Bark River Preview:
TORC Drivers Ready to Attack the 1.5 Mile Clay Track of Bark River
Crandon,
WI (July 3, 2009)-Bark River International Raceway will welcome the
Traxxas TORC Truck Series presented by AMSOIL next weekend, July
11th and 12th, 2009. Bark River will prove to be a test of
horsepower, and driver skill, as it is a challenging, fast paced
track that boasts the highest elevation change on the 2009 race
circuit.
Seven-time Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath will return to the
wheel of his 900 horsepower Toyota to take on fellow motocross
legend and Red Bull driver, Ricky Johnson. Johnson, who continues
his reign over the AMSOIL PRO 2WD class, had an upsetting finish in
round 5 only to come back the same day to take the Forest County
Potawatomi Chairman’s Cup win. Rockstar backed Todd Leduc and PRO
2WD warhorse, Scott Taylor are waiting for the opportunity to take
the points lead from Johnson.
Monster Energy driver and points leader, Rick Huseman, who nearly
broke the Crandon International Off Road Raceway track record
previously set by Johnny Greaves in 2008, will continue on his chase
for a championship in the Kumho Tires PRO 4x4 class. Huseman will
not be unchallenged, as Rockstar driver Kyle LeDuc and veteran
drivers Johnny Greaves and AMSOIL powerhouse Scott Douglas have
proved that they will not go quietly.
The newest member of the Monster Army, PRO Light driver Casey
Currie, continues in his quest for his second win of 2009. This has
proved to be a daunting task for Currie, the youngest driver in his
class, as veteran drivers Jeff Kincaid, Chad Hord, and Marty Hart
have continued to dominate the class in the point’s race.

Bark River 101: Highlights
Bark River International Raceway is located ten miles Southwest of
Escanaba, Michigan on U.S. Route 41. The original off-road track was
5 miles, racers were expected to complete 20 laps for a total of 100
miles, and thus the U.P. Off Road 100 was born. Over the years, the
course continued to be shortened and reconfigured into the modern
day track (1.5 miles). Bark River is said to be one of the most
challenging courses on the TORC Series schedule, where drivers can
reach up to 90 miles per hour with the highest elevation change on
the circuit. The Bark River International Raceway received
additional international recognition in 2007 with the launch of the
XBOX 360 video game DIRT. The BRIR is one of the featured courses in
the game, allowing fans to enjoy Bark River’s top notch racing
action all year round.
