WSORR Introduces New 4x4 Class - PRO ULTRA 4x4
(DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE OVERVIEW)
Ultra 4x4 is designed as a less expensive alternative to PRO 4x4. This
is considered a spec class meaning most all chassis and drive train
parts and design will be dictated by the WSORR. The trucks will be
smaller and much lighter than the current PRO 4x4s and can be bodied as
ether a truck or SUV.
This truck is designed to reduce overall build, maintenance as well as
R&D costs. Our hope is to have almost all repair parts available at each
event in order to save teams even more. Trucks and motors will be
available in any stage of completion. From frame with arms, complete
kits or turnkey. Build prices will be available soon and will be much
less than any of the top tier classes now competing. Plans include the
Ultra 4x4 class to be in the future WSORR SPEED TV package.
1. Frame and suspension components will be built to the WSORR spec
design. Arms, spindles etc. will be all the same with replacement parts
available at each event.
2. All trucks will run the same Borg Warner transfer case and a spec
front and rear drive line.
3. Weight will be about 3,400 pounds for trucks running a V8 or 3,200
for those using a V6.
4. Spec Ford, Chevy and Mopar V8s will be 364 cubic inch using a spec
untouched Brodix head and intake manifold. Only flat top pistons are
allowed. A single 4 barrel carburetor must be used. Cast iron block
only. This engine will have a 10.5 to 1 compression ratio and will be
allowed to use E85 fuel if desired. Horsepower will be at about 545 with
the cost of a complete motor being under $15,000.
5. GM Turbo 400 transmissions must be used. Under/overdrive units are
not allowed.
6. The 4.0 liter V6 engine package will be more open and fuel injection
will be allowed.
7. Multi Valve V8 engines will be available at some point when a
suitable package can be found. Until this time the use of a body not
brand specific to the motor may be allowed.
8. D.O.T. tires must be used.
