SMYRNA, TN – Nissan North America, Inc., has announced its 2007
Contingency Award Program with the Lucas Oil World Series of
Off-Road Racing (WSORR). Nissan is posting in two premier WSORR
classes – the PRO 2WD pickup truck class and the PRO Light Pickup
class.
Prize amounts for both WSORR classes are $2,000 for a first place
finish and $1,000 for a runner-up finish. These prize postings are
double the amounts from last season. WSORR will race 14 rounds of
racing at seven venues this coming season.
Nissan is also posting $5,000 as a year-end Nissan Driver’s
Championship Award. Eligible off-road race trucks include Nissan
Frontier PRO Light Pickups and Nissan Titan PRO 2WD Pickups.
Significantly, selected Nissan “factory-backed” teams are not
eligible for awards, opening up the contingency cash to a broad
field. Nissan is the defending brand in both PRO 2WD and PRO Light
Pickup classes in the former Championship Off-Road Racing circuit,
which raced in the Midwest last year.
Champion Nissan drivers Carl Renezeder, Newport Beach, CA, and
Chad Hord, Felch, MI, are the reigning nationwide champions in the
PRO 2WD and PRO Light Pickup classes, respectively.
“We have a racer incentive program for both Nissan defending
champions that is separate and distinct from our 2007 World Series
of Off-Road Racing contingency program,” said Ron Stukenberg,
senior manager, Nissan motorsports marketing & operations. “We
feel our World Series program is an excellent way to reward all
off-road competitors racing Nissans off-road with WSORR.”
Nissan posts contingency is a wide variety of motorsports programs
ranging from WSORR’s off-road circuit to the Grand Am Rolex Series
to Formula Drift.
The WSORR contingency program requires enrollment with Nissan’s
Motorsports Marketing and Operations group. A Grassroots Racing
Parts Program is also offered by Nissan. The program provides
special pricing on Nissan Motorsports parts. Information about the
program is available via email at nmc.race@nissan-usa.com.
The Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing features a high
speed, high impact off-road racing experience for racers and fans
at key tracks in Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin this
coming season.
WSORR opens the season May 19-20 at the Steele County Fairgrounds
in Owatonna, MN. More information about the Series is available at
WSORR.com. Web sites for key drivers mentioned above include
