WSORR NAME AND LOGO NOW OFFICIALLY TRADEMARKED “®”
-
CRANDON, Wisc., April 6, 2008 -- The World Series of Off-Road
Racing® has been notified by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
that the organization’s name is protected as a registered trademark,
effective immediately. WSORR will use the symbol “®” as a part of
the Series name and logo in all media, advertising and promotional
material.
“This marks another crucial step in the long-term stability of
off-road racing in the Midwest,” said Jake Flannery, WSORR
vice-president and race steward. “Registering the name as
trademarked protects the investment of our sponsors, racers and fans
in this Series. In just one season, WSORR has built a reputation of
exciting short-course off-road racing conducted in a professional
manner with fairness and integrity and that’s what the WSORR name
and trademark will stand for in the years to come,” Flannery added.
The registered trademark also extends to other combinations of
“Off-Road” and “World Series” as WSORR is often referred to as the
“Off-Road World Series” by fans and racers.
WSORR features 12 rounds of off-road racing this season for 10
classes ranging from professional off-road pickup truck racers to
sportsman buggy racers. The Series continues a tradition of off-road
racing in the Midwest that spans 39 years. WSORR featured record
crowds last season in its inaugural year. The 2008 off-road racing
campaign opens May 31-June at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.
