RENEZEDER CLAIMS FCP CHAIRMAN’S CUP IN NEW NISSAN TITAN PLUS
MULTIPLE “DOUBLE WINNERS”
-
IN WSORR ROUNDS III & IV AT CRANDON RACEWAY
CRANDON, WI. – Carl Renezeder successfully debuted his new PRO 4x4
Nissan Titan by driving to three podium finishes in Lucas Oil World
Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) action in front of a large crowd
at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway for Rounds III & IV of the
Series.
The featured event of the weekend was the 14th Annual Potawatomi
Chairman’s Cup Race and it was a thrilling battle all the way to the
final lap. The challenge race features both 4x4 and 2-wheel drive
high-horsepower trucks with the two-wheel drive vehicles provided a
handicap advantage at the start. Mike Oberg, in his Amsoil Kumho
Chevrolet, put that head start in front of the crowd to good use
sprinting out to a big lead and then holding off the new Lucas Oil
BFG Nissan Titan of Renezeder until an exciting pass on the last
lap. Kent Brascho, in a Goodyear Chevrolet 4x4 truck finished third.
It was Renezeder’s second Chairman’s Cup title as he also was a
winner of the prestigious event in 2004.
The Series racing was highlighted by the PRO 2WD race in Saturday’s
WSORR Round III, one of the most exciting in Crandon Raceway
history, with the Amsoil Kumho Super Team duo of Mike Oberg and Dan
Vanden Heuvel both in Chevrolet’s, battling the Skyjacker BFG Ford
of Scott Taylor from green flag to checkers. The trio rubbed fenders
and battled ferociously nose-to-tail lap after lap. Oberg came
across the finish line first with Taylor and Vanden Heuvel crashing
into each other as they came across the line locked together and
pinned along the safety fence at the feet of the flagman.
After reviewing tape of the photo finish, race officials awarded
Taylor second and Vanden Heuvel third. Round IV was won by Series
veteran Kevin Probst in his Simply Wow Toyo Chevrolet as he held off
the charge of Oberg and Vanden Heuvel. Oberg leads the Pro 2WD
season points race by a single point over Taylor with Probst in
third.
All of the WSORR PRO class races have tightened up after Rounds III
& IV, led by the PRO Light Pickup class where the top three racers
are separated now by only two points. Marty Hart in his Maxxis Ford
continues to lead the pack but by virtue of Jeff Kincaid’s win on
Saturday in his Potawatomi sponsored BFG Toyota followed by Chad
Hord’s victory on Sunday in his Lucas Oil Boss Snowplows Kumho
Nissan, the former class champions sit tied for second place only
two points behind Hart.
The PRO Light podiums were claimed by racers familiar with historic
Crandon Raceway. In Round III, Crandon native Jeff Kincaid enjoyed
the ride around his home track finishing ahead of the Nissan’s of
Hord and another series veteran, Art Schmitt. In Round IV, Hord took
the checkers and Schmitt finished second in his Goodyear Nissan.
Randy Eller, another veteran of Crandon Raceway action, grabbed the
third spot in his Maxxis Ford.
In PRO 4x4 action, veterans again finished out front as Scott
Douglas won his fourth race in a row at Crandon Raceway dating back
to the 2006 season as he grabbed the WSORR Round III win in his
Amsoil Kumho Ford. He was followed by another racer who has made a
career out of dominating at Crandon, Johnny Greaves in his Monster
Potawatomi BFG Toyota. Renezeder debuted his new Lucas Oil Nissan
Titan with a third place finish. In Round IV, Greaves finished
first, followed by Kent Brascho in a Goodyear Chevrolet and
Renezeder in the Nissan. Brascho leads the class points race with
his three second place finishes on the season.
Five WSORR drivers celebrated a big weekend at the Forest County
Potawatomi Brush Run Races by pulling off back-to-back victories in
their respective class led by Aaron Hawley in Super Buggy, Dave
Waldvogel in Super Stock Truck and John Fitzgerald in the 1600 Buggy
division.
In the SRT division of WSORR, Aaron Hawley has taken a commanding
lead in the Super Buggy race by sweeping Rounds III & IV in his
Goodyear sponsored machine. Hawley has won three of the four races
and finished second in the other. Gary Nierop, also racing
Goodyear’s, trails Hawley in the points finishing second and third
during the weekend. Ryan Mulder, on Nokian Tyres, swapped podium
spots with Nierop with a third place finish followed by a second in
Round IV.
Dave Waldvogel was a double winner in the Super Stock Truck division
in his Bendix Toyo Chevrolet. Series points leader Ben Wandahsega,
piloted his Potawatomi Toyo Chevrolet to a pair of second place
finishes. Keith Steele debuted his Monster Goodyear Chevrolet truck
in third place in both rounds of racing.
John Fitzgerald rode his Goodyear’s to a pair of victories to take
the top spot in the 1600 Buggy class by a single point over Mark
Steinhardt on BFG’s who finished second both days. Brad Erickson and
Michael Seefeldt, both on BFG’s, finished third respectively in
Rounds III & IV.
Scott Beauchamp continued to dominate the Stock Truck class with his
third win in a row in a Goodyear Chevrolet, before settling for a
second in Round IV. Eric Ruppel, in a BFG Ford got the breakthrough
win. Al Konitzer in a Goodyear Dodge was second with Ruppel third in
Round III with Don Demeny in a Goodyear Dodge claiming the third
spot in Round IV.

standings with his victory in Round IV. Josh Hintz on Toyo’s was the
Round III winner. Craig Metz on Kumho’s was second and Wes Frehse on

Goodyear Ford. Tim Moeller, also in a Goodyear Ford finished second
both days. Dave DeMaegd in a Jeep was third in Round III with class
points leader Bob Sayers in a Goodyear Ford claiming that spot in
Round IV.
