WSORR OSHKOSH RACES GARNER MORE NATIONAL TV (7-31-08)
OSHKOSH, Wisc., - The net result of a successful weekend of first
ever back-to-back night races by the Lucas Oil World Series of
Off-Road Racing (WSORR) at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway, is the
announcement of a special Lucas Oil “On the Edge” TV program.
The additional program joins WSORR’s strong Series television
coverage on SPEED TV.
Off-road racing returned to the Oshkosh market this year for the
first time since 1996. Enthusiastic fans supported two consecutive
nights of racing and watched several local racers compete and take
wins. “It was a huge weekend of racing action for the World Series,”
said Steve Grein, Executive Producer, NeWave TV Productions,
producer of WSORR action for television. “The double-header of night
racing was explosive with lots of thrills and spills for the fans
and I know our TV audience will also enjoy the on-track energy from
Oshkosh,” he said.
Grein said that in addition to professional racing coverage on SPEED
TV, additional off-road action was taped at Oshkosh including
classes such as WSORR Stock Truck, WSORR Formula 4x4 and pure
grassroots classes.
“We are going to take the best of this extra camera work and produce
an exciting show for the popular Lucas Oil “On the Edge” half hour
programs,” said Grein. “It will be the first time in the history
that some of these classes are broadcast,” he said. “This style of
competition is really how off-road racing was launched in this
country and while the sport has developed to a much higher level, is
emblematic of the beginnings of off-road racing 40 years ago in
Wisconsin.”
Air date and time for the special Lucas Oil “On the Edge” show
featuring WSORR will be announced. The full schedule of Pro racing
shows from the World Series Tour 2008 begins airing in November on
SPEED.
WSORR is now being broadcast across a broad range of racing programs
and networks. Besides SPEED TV airing Pro off-road racing and
special high ticket Cup races such as the BorgWarner Shootout and
Forest County Potawatomi Chairman’s and PRO Light Pickup Cup races,
selected WSORR racing action will be shown on VERSUS TV as part of
the Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour.
“This is the best and most varied TV ever offered in the history of
off-road racing in the Midwest,” said Doug Davis, general manager,
WSORR. “It’s good for all WSORR sponsors and racers and great
nationally for the entire sport,” he said. “The World Series
continues to move rapidly in a very positive direction. I am sure
everyone looks forward to watching WSORR on SPEED, VERSUS, the Lucas
Oil Motorsports Hour and Lucas Oil ‘On the Edge’,” he commented.
WSORR action now moves to Bark River, Mich., for Rounds IX & X and
the Island Resort & Casino Boss Snowplow Off-Road Shootout on August
9-10. More information about that event is available at
www.barkriveroffroad.com and info on the World Series is available
at www.wsorr.com. Official sponsors for WSORR include Lucas Oil
Products, Forest County Potawatomi, United Trailers and Sunoco Race
Fuels. General Tire serves as "Official Tire" of WSORR. Traxxas®, is
the Official Radio Controlled Car of WSORR. Additional sponsors
include E3 Spark Plugs, BorgWarner, Super Clean Degreaser, Team
Lucas, and Skyjacker Suspensions, among others.
