MOLE LAKE “RUNS THE TABLE” IN BARK RIVER!!

-
On Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12 at Bark River
International Off Road Speedway, Mole Lake Casino, Lodge and
Conference Center flexed it’s muscle behind the driving of
#217 “Rocket Man” Dan Baudoux!
-
-
In the Super Truck Class, Baudoux sporting the new colors
and logo of Mole Lake, put on a show rarely witnessed in any
racing venue in Rounds 8 and 9 of the World Series of Off
Road Racing.
-
-
On Saturday, Baudoux came off of the line and out of turn
one in second place and trailing the leader by several truck
lengths. Throughout the race, the “Rocket Man” lived up to
his nickname by thrilling the crowd with spectacular jumps
of over 200 feet on the track pushing hard to reel in the
leader. Finally catching the lead truck, Baudoux made
numerous attempts to pass and take the lead only to be cut
off and denied the number one position.
-
-
The crowd was on it’s feet as Baudoux set himself up to pass
on numerous occasions, even taking the outside line in an
attempt to pass. Finally with only three laps to go in the
race, and on a short turn, taking the outside line and in
position to move ahead, Dan made his move. Driving the #217
Ford F150 that has brought Team Baudoux three Championships
in four years, Dan hit the afterburners. However on slick
and loose dirt, the truck began to make a “Loop” as racers
call it. The back swung around and almost put Dan
completely out of the race, facing away from the track. The
crowd simultaneously sighed as Dan faced the infield and was
slowed to a near stop.
-
-
However making an incredible save and thinking fast, Dan
gunned the truck, drove around a cement abutment lining the
track, through the infield, and immediately got back into
the fray. Still in second place and now trailing by over 20
truck lengths, the crowd went wild. With three laps to go,
the “Rocket Man” had no more room for error.
-
-
After two more laps, incredibly, Dan had again caught the
leader. The crowd was on it’s feet. TV cameras were on the
two lead trucks. In a back stretch leading to the finish
line it was now or never for Baudoux. He asked his Ford
F150 to once again give him the power to move forward and it
responded. In a blink of an eye, Baudoux was in first place
and there was no looking back. By the time he crossed the
finish line, less than half a mile away, Dan had more than
a 6 truck lead, and history was made.
-
-
Then in Sunday’s Super Truck race, “Rocket Man” shot to the
lead off the start and never looked back, winning the race
convincingly and in his usual style.
-
-
After the weekend Dan was quoted as saying, “I wanted to
send a statement this weekend to the other teams and reward
my new friends and sponsor, Mole Lake Casino, Lodge and
Conference Center. This has been a difficult year for us to
date but we are back and on a mission! Now it’s MY time so
everyone watch out! Rocket Man is on the move!”
