BIGGEST
NAMES, NEW FACES PART OF STARTING FIELD FOR 2007 FCP CHAIRMAN'S CUP
RACE
CRANDON, WI -- Crandon Raceway has announced the official entry list
for the 2007 Potawatomi Chairman's Cup Race, Sunday, June 24. Off-road
racing’s biggest names and most popular stars as well as newcomers are
part of the 14th running for the FCP Chairman’s Cup.
With a total race purse of more than $50,000 for the 15-minute "heavy
metal challenge dash" between 4x4 and 2-wheel drive pickups, the 14th
annual race promises to be explosive. It is the feature event at a
weekend of off-road racing at Crandon’s Forest County Potawatomi Brush
Run Races presented by Herculiner June 23-24.
This coming weekend also features Crandon’s annual $1,000 fan
appreciation drawing. One lucky fan will win $1,000 drawn from paid
admissions on Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m.
A bevy of veteran WSORR drivers and past Chairman's Cup champs will
face off in the high speed romp including past champions Johnny
Greaves, Curt LeDuc, Carl Renezeder and Scott Taylor. Adrian Cenni
returns seeking a Chairman's Cup win and hoping to improve on his 2nd
place finish in last year’s BorgWarner Shootout. San Diego racer John
Marking will enter the event for the first time, moving up to PRO 4x4
from the PRO Light class he raced last year. Scott Douglas, defending
BorgWarner Shootout champion, and Kent Brascho, who finished a strong
5th in last year’s BorgWarner race, will be seeking their first
Chairman’s Cup win.
The winner is guaranteed a minimum of $20,000 plus the traditional
Miller Electric Welder. An ample contingency purse is also available
from truck makers, tire OEMs and more (see WSORR.com details).
First PRO 2WD in the race wins $7,500. Charging for the prize money
will be such well-known racers as Taylor, Evan Evans, Todd LeDuc, Mike
Oberg, Kevin Probst, Dan VandenHeuvel and Ross Hoek. It will be Hoek’s
first time at the starting line for the event in PRO 2WD truck. Hoek
moves up from the Sportsman’ Super Truck class this season and debuts
a new Herculiner Toyo Tires race truck.
“All these great racers have a very strong fan following at Crandon
and throughout the Midwest,” said Cliff Flannery, president, Crandon
Raceway. “We have reinvested thousands into our track for this opening
weekend of racing and will be paying out more than $150,000 this
coming weekend,” he said.
Besides on track improvements to the famous Potawatomi Turn One,
Crandon has a new American Racing ATX Wheels Starting Tower, a new
Boss Snowplows Jump, an enormous new overhead Land Rush Starting Line
sign, new exterior privacy fencing, and new custom entrance gates.
The purse for the first Sportsman Super Truck racer to take the
checkers is $2,000. A competititve battle between racers Dan Baudoux,
Ben Wandahsega and newcomers Jace Schubert, Keith Steele and Dave
Waldvogel is sure to thrill the Crandon crowd.
Every entry in the race receives a record minimum payout of $750.
