Brascho First
Off-Road Racer from Dixie to Win Chairman's Cup!
Crandon, WI - "When you win at Crandon it makes all the rest look
easy," So said the legendary Walker Evans, now retired from
professional off-road racing. The man that acquired his powerful
Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 and put it in Victory Circle at Crandon this
past weekend by winning the 15th annual Forest County Potawatomi
Chairman's Cup race -- Kent Brascho -- is the latest off-road racing
hero in the nation.
Kent
is one of the quality guys in off-road racing and a true gentleman for
the sport but he knows it takes a team effort to get to the checkers
first. Kent,of Pell City, Alabama, is pictured here in the foreground
accepting the traditional Miller Electric Welder presented to every
winner of the Chairman's Cup. Making the presentation is Doug Davis of
Crandon Raceway and the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing.
Pictured on top of the hood is the famous Potawatomi Cup, Brascho's
muddy race helmet and the Crandon Victory Circle check. At left
holding the check is Kent's son -- Jonathon (John) Brascho. Big John
helps in the pits and drives the rig. Brascho won $20,000 of the
posted purse of $50,000. In the background, holding a highly-prized
Traxxas radio controlled race truck -- a new addition to Victory
Circle this year -- is Gaynon Brascho, nephew and crew member.
At right is Steve Anderson, the Team Brascho engine wizard and radio
spotter. Anderson is well-known at Crandon and off-road racing circles
and hails from Riverside, Calif. Not pictured but clapping loudly
off-camera is Irene Brascho, Kent's wife and hospitality hostess and
she also handles all the paperwork for the team. Backing up the entire
team is David Lee and his wife Julianna and both are also part of "Mr.
Chevy Thunder's" Big Red Lucas Oil Goodyear Team out of the Great
State of Alabama. "We wouldn't be sitting for this photo without all
these folks," said Kent. 'Nuff said. (Photo by JnL Photography). |
