Wheatland, MO Lucas Oil Speedway- June 1st, 2008
The 2008 WSORR season opener started off well for Gerald Racing
Team in the Forest County Potawatomi light buggy. The season was
to open with Saturday night racing, but was postponed a few hours
due to storms and bad track conditions. After the rain cleared the
first time, track officials worked to get the track prepped and
race ready.

Gerald drew a 9th starting position to start off round I and
quickly moved in to first place where he remained until track
officials red flagged the race. Racing resumed late Sunday morning
with seven laps remaining where Gerald was able to start on the
pole position, where he had left off the night before. Track
conditions proved to be very difficult, upon entering into the
infield corner and being the lead car, Gerald overshot the infield
berm, nearly getting stuck in the deep mud, dropped down to 5th
and worked his way back up to a 4th place finish.

After the race the crew worked hard to scrape all the mud off the
car to get it ready to go for round II shortly after.

Round II Gerald started in the 8th position. After a bad start and
getting shuffled to the back of the field, Gerald was able to work
his way up to 5th position setting the two fastest lap times of
the race.

“We were really happy with how well our new car worked this
weekend, I think the lap times speak for themselves. We wish we
could have had better finishes, but our luck wasn’t there this
weekend. I’d really like to thank my crew, Forest County
Potawatomi and Goodyear for all of their support” said Gerald
after round II.

Gerald goes into rounds III and IV in Crandon, WI 5th place in the
points race.

The team looks forward to competing at their title sponsor’s,
Forest County Potawatomi, home track at the
Crandon International Off-Road Raceway.
