Mason Motorsports Continues his Podium Streak at
Crandon
Plymouth, WI (June 26, 2008) - Mason Motorsports
continued to land on the podium this past weekend at the Forest County
Potawatomi Brush Run in Crandon, Wisconsin. The PRO Super Buggy division
is extremely competitive as eight of the thirteen drivers are past
winners. John Mason, driver of the #912 Mendeola Transaxles Goodyear Tires
Honda powered Jimco Super Buggy, considers this his favorite place to
race.
Saturday – Round Three
The land rush start saw John Mason come out of Potawatomi Turn One in
fifth place. John and fourth place #902 Lemons battled each other for the
position throughout the race. John and his #912 Mendeola Super Buggy made
several attempts to make the pass but dusty conditions prevented a clean
pass. As the laps wound down John ran out of time before he could make the
pass stick. In the end, Gary Nierop and Corry Heynan failed to finish
allowing, John Mason to finish on the podium once again.
“I’ve made a lot of laps around here over the years,” commented John
Mason. “The start is so very important here. If you don’t get a good
start, you run out of time to get back to the front. That’s what happened
today. The car was perfect; no problems just clean it up and get ready for
tomorrow.”
Sunday – Round Four
About forty-five minutes before the start of the PRO Super Buggy race,
heavy rain began to fall. It was raining at the start of the race and it
was still coming down at the finish. Needless to say, the track was a
mess. The track was muddy and there was standing water everywhere.
The start saw #902 Tim Lemons grab the lead with John Mason right behind
in second. The weather and track conditions made it almost impossible to
see. The only time you saw a pass for position was when someone either
spun out or pitted to try to clean their visor. John made the best of the
conditions and finished in second place.
“The conditions were miserable,” said John Mason. “It was a race of
survival. Our Goodyear tires really came through today. Whenever I got
close to Tim, his roost just pelted me. I couldn’t see. The only way
around was if he made a mistake. He didn’t. Second place is great
considering the conditions. I also have to thank our local supporters of
Mason Motorsports, Laona Food Mart helps out with burgers and brats for
the weekend, Yeager Oil of Laona for all our lubricants, and Rhinelander
Honda with their help with our engine parts. See you in Bark River.”
Currently John Mason is in second place in the 2008 WSORR Super Buggy
Championship standings.
The next race for Mason Motorsports is the Island Casino/Boss Snow
Off-Road Challenge, July 12-13, in Bark River, Michigan.
