Eagle River, WI (May 9, 2007) The Oberg Motorsports Team has big
plans for the opening weekend of the World Series of Off-Road Racing
(WSORR) at Owatonna MN. on May 19 & 20. Not only will Mike be
piloting his Pro 2 WD, vying for his first Pro 2 WD Championship,
but he will also be at the helm of the Douglas Motorsports Pro 4x4.
The Douglas Team has other commitments and needed a way to represent
their sponsors in the best way possible and Amsoil/Kumho Super Team
member Oberg fit right in. “Mike’s come a long way in learning how
to drive a 4x4,” said Scott Douglas, truck owner and reigning
BorgWarner Shootout champion. “Mike is obviously a fast learner and
we are pleased to be able to field this entry and support the new
series, BorgWarner and especially the Forest County Potawatomi,”
said Douglas.
Mike is very excited to get an opportunity like this. “I felt I
handled the 4x4 well in the straight stretches but had some
difficulties in cornering,” says Oberg. “There is a big difference
when you have the power in the front to pull you through. I’ll get a
little more practice at Owatonna before the race so I know I can do
it. I’m just glad to be able to help Scott out and support all of
our sponsors.”
This will also be a great opportunity for Mike and the Oberg Team.
“We have always wondered what it would be like to move to Pro 4x4
and now we will get a taste of that,” says Team Manager Mark “Gilly”
Gelhausen. “Who knows what the future holds for us. This may be our
calling.”
The Oberg Team is also making a promotional appearance in Owatonna
this weekend to help the promoters get the word out about WSORR. We
are always glad to do these promotional appearances to bring more
exposure to what we do.
So if you have nothing scheduled for the weekend of May 19 & 20, the
Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna MN will be the place to be.
The ground will be shaking that weekend. I guarantee it.
