Zoetmulder Has Solid Weekend

Lake Zurich, IL (July 28, 2008) - The Sticker Dude
Motorsports team of drivers headed to the Winnebago
County Fairgrounds, looking to continue their solid
showings as the second half of the World Series of
Off-Road Racing unfolds. Lee and Steven were looking to
gains points on the PRO-Light series leader, and Luke
was looking to rid “The Gremlins” from his Super Buggy.
The weather was picture perfect, with a light breeze and
temperatures in the 70s, for the two nights of off-road
racing inside the city limits of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The
race track that ran on and inside the one-third mile
clay oval was a technical combination of high-speed
jumps, banked corners, and two rhythm sections, that
kept drivers “up on the wheel” during the entire race.
Friday Night - Round VII
PRO-Light
The PRO-Light race became a battle of Sticker Dude
teammates. The standing start, had the trucks lined up
in rows two racers wide, beginning between turns three
and four of the clay oval.
The start saw Steven Federico and his #24 Invisible
Glass PF Changs Hankook Tire Toyota Tacoma, make a
series of quick moves to take the lead halfway through
the first lap.
Meanwhile Lee O’Donnell in his #23 Hankook Tires
Invisible Glass PF Changs Toyota Tacoma, started in row
two and had a great start, as well. The Hankook Toyota
was running third just behind #26 Josh Hintz, and
teammate #24 Federico.
By lap three, Lee got around Hintz, and the battle
between teammates began. For two laps, Lee was looking
for a clean way around Steven. On lap five, Lee drove
inside of Steven, while going through the infield high
banked corner and grabbed the lead. The final nine laps
had the near capacity crowd on their feet, as the
Hankook equipped Toyota, swapped positions, back and
forth, several times, with Lee O’Donnell crossing the
finish, first, and Steven Federico, second, right on his
rear quarter panel.
The podium celebration was almost chaotic, it was the
first time in WSORR history that teammates in the same
division, finished in the top two spots.
“Was that fun or what,” exclaimed Lee O’Donnell. “For
Steve and me to have a race like this is incredible.
We’ve joked about this scenario all the time. We pulled
it off and it can’t get much better than this. Thanks to
everyone involved in our program, Hankook Tires,
Invisible Glass, P.F. Changs, and especially Meredith,
my wife. Without her support, I could come out here and
perform like we did tonight. Racing side by side with
Steve, we both knew we could just race and not worry
about one guy taking out the other. This is what racing
it all about.”
Steven Federico added, “Just what Lee just said, thanks
to all our supporters, and crew, AJ, Chris,Jon, Matt,
Justin, Jake and Charlie. I think this one-two finish is
another first for Hankook Tire. This track that WSORR
put together is awesome. Our Hankook DynaPro tires are
ideal for these conditions. Thanks to all the fans that
came out tonight and I want them to come tomorrow with a
friend. Let’s make it standing room only tomorrow. Just
look how well our Invisible Glass makes our trucks shine
under the lights!”
Super Buggy
Luke Zoetmulder was sporting a new sponsor on his Toyota
PRO Super Buggy, the Mole Lake Casino and Conference
Center. The tribal community, located just south of
Crandon, Wisconsin, is a huge supporter of the off-road
racing community.
Luke and his #924 Mole Lake Casino Sticker Dude
Invisible Glass Hankook Tire Toyota powered PRO Super
Buggy ran a solid race. The entire race saw Luke running
in the front half of the field. The Mole Lake Super
Buggy ran flawlessly, with Luke crossing the finish, in
eighth place.
“This was a solid race for our Super Buggy team
tonight,” commented Luke Zoetmulder. “I was comfortable
out there tonight. I need to adapt to the changing track
quicker, but I’ll have that covered for tomorrow. Thanks
again for Mole Lake Casino for coming on board for the
rest of the season, and of course Invisible Glass,
Hankook Tire, and P.F. Changs.”
Saturday Night – Round VIII
As the evening sun set, the grandstands were filled to
capacity and the fans were treated some of the best
short course off-road racing of the year.
PRO-Light
The inverted starting grid, had both Sticker Dude
Motorsports drivers lined up in the third row. When the
green flag fell, #11 Randy Eller, grabbed the lead, from
his front row starting position. As the field came out
of the first turn, Steven and Lee had to battle through
some traffic, but by the end of the first lap. Steven
was running in the second spot, with Lee right on his
bumper. Randy Eller used the first turn traffic to his
advantage, and put some distance between him and the
field to win his first race of the year.
Meanwhile, the Invisible Glass P.F. Changs Hankook Tires
Toyota sponsored drivers, put on an incredible show for
the fans. Steven and Lee swapped positions at least
fifteen times, sometimes in the same lap. Then with two
laps to go, Steven grabbed the second spot for good. At
the finish it was Randy Eller first, Steven Federico
second, and Lee O’Donnell third.
The podium celebration was again dominated by the
Hankook Tire shod drivers from Sticker Dude Motorsports.
“This weekend was just amazing,” noted Steven Federico.
“For Lee and I to race like we did and to finish on the
podium both days is a credit to our crew. Thanks all our
fans, our sponsors, our families, everyone that gives us
the opportunity to come out here and race. The Hankook
tires with the groove that Jon gave us the weekend,
really gave the bite we needed for the slick conditions
on the oval. See you in Bark River!”
Lee O’Donnell added; “Tonight Steve had the advantage
when the checkered flag fell. We were both so close; I
needed one more lap to get another run on him. This has
to be the most fun I’ve ever had in this truck. Like
Steve said, without the support of our crew, our
families, and sponsors, big or small, we couldn’t put on
the show like we did this weekend.”
The near perfect weekend for the Sticker Dude PRO-Light
drivers, moved them closer to the PRO-Light points
leader.
PRO Super Buggy
Luke and his #924 Mole Lake Casino Sticker Dude
Invisible Glass Hankook Tire Toyota powered PRO Super
Buggy ran a solid race. In a night that saw the top
twelve finishers on the lead lap, Luke crossed the line
in eight place.
“This was a solid weekend for our Super Buggy team
tonight,” commented Luke Zoetmulder. “I was comfortable
out there tonight. The transmission or the linkage needs
to be looked at thoroughly before Bark River, something
isn’t quite right, but we will get that corrected before
Bark River. This weekend will be a building block for
team to work from. Thanks again for Mole Lake Casino for
coming on board for the rest of the season, and of
course Invisible Glass, Hankook Tire, and P.F. Changs. I
think the Gremlins are gone!”
After eight rounds of racing in the WSORR PRO-Light
Championship, #24 Steven Federico is in second place,
with Lee O’Donnell, right behind in third.
PRO-Light Championship Standings
1. Jeff Kincaid 157 pts.
2. Steven Federico 152 pts.
3. Lee O’Donnell 139 pts.
Luke Zoetmulder is ninth in the WSORR PRO Super Buggy
Championship standings.
Next race is back in Bark River, Michigan, August 9-10.
