Team Toyo’s Kevin Probst and Ben Wandahsega Lead Class Championships
After WSORR Boss Snowplows Off-Road Shootout Weekend
-
BARK RIVER, MICHIGAN – Team Toyo™ Off-Road drivers had a great
weekend at the challenging Bark River International Raceway during
the WSORR Boss Snowplows Off-Road Shootout, July 14th and 15th. All
of the drivers shared a common thread, their Open Country M/T® tires
from Toyo®.
During both Saturday and Sunday’s rounds, Kevin Probst, driving his
800+ horsepower Simply WOW / Toyo Tires Chevy Silverado truck,
scored second place finishes to hold a six point lead over Scott
Taylor and Mike Oberg, both tied for runner-up points behind Probst
in the Pro 2WD championship.
"The Toyo Open Country M/T's are performing exceptionally well. We
have worked hard to tune the truck to utilize the great performance
of the Toyo Tires," said Probst, "It is great to be in the position
to race for a Class Championship in Pro 2wd."
First and second in the Super Stock Truck championship points are
still owned by Ben Wandahsega and Dave Waldvogel although there was
additional drama provided by the class points leader on Saturday.
Wandahsega rolled his Forest County Potawatomi / Toyo Tires Chevy
Silverado during the race on Saturday, but managed to complete the
race while catching the pack to retain valuable points. Waldvogel
finished fourth in that round. On Sunday, the two drivers were back
in form, as they both scored podiums, Wandahsega with the victory
and Waldvogel in third with his Bendix / Toyo Tires Chevy Silverado.
A new member of Team Toyo Off-Road is Mike Vanden Heuvel of the
Flying Dutchman Off-Road Race Team with his Amsoil® / Toyo Tires
open wheel car competing in the 1600 Lite Buggy class. Battling a
packed, thirty-one car field, Vanden Heuvel engaged in a mid-race
scuffle for third place with Team Toyo’s Josh Hintz before
continuing his charge to the lead with only two laps remaining.
Hintz did not fair as well in the race, dropping to 15th by the time
the checkered flag dropped.
“We are proud of all our Team Toyo Off-Road drivers for their
efforts during this past weekend,” said Gina Aparicio, project
manager - off-road, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation. “Our
congratulations especially go to Mike Vanden Heuvel, scoring a hard
earned victory during his first-ever race on Toyo tires.”
